Frequently Asked Questions
How much do custom cabinets cost in Camarillo?
For planning purposes, Ventura County cabinet projects generally fall into these ranges: refinishing and painting existing doors runs roughly $4,000 to $9,000, refacing runs roughly $9,000 to $20,000, a new semi-custom kitchen installed runs roughly $18,000 to $35,000, and a full custom kitchen runs roughly $30,000 to $65,000 and up. A single bathroom vanity typically lands between $2,500 and $8,000. These are market ranges, not quotes. Your actual price depends on the door style, the finish system, the box material, the hardware grade and the number of cabinets, which is why we field-measure before we price anything.
Should I reface, refinish or fully replace my cabinets?
It comes down to the condition of the boxes and whether the layout works. If the boxes are solid and you are happy with where things are, refinishing changes the color for the least money. If the boxes are solid but the doors are dated or damaged, refacing replaces every visible surface for roughly a third of what replacement costs. If the boxes are particleboard and swollen, or the layout genuinely does not work for how you cook, replacement is the honest answer. We quote whichever options actually apply to your kitchen and tell you which one we would choose.
How long does a cabinet project take?
Refinishing is usually three to five working days, with your doors off site for most of that. Refacing is typically four to seven days on site. A full custom kitchen runs four to eight weeks from approved drawings to final install, and most of that is shop build time rather than time spent in your house: the disruptive on-site portion is usually three to six days. We give you dated milestones in writing before we start, including exactly which days you will be without a kitchen sink.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We carry an active California contractor license and general liability coverage, and the license number is printed on every written estimate before you are asked to sign anything. You can verify any California license yourself through the Contractors State License Board at cslb.ca.gov, and we encourage you to do that with every bid you receive, not just ours.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Cabinet work is a significant purchase, and most Ventura County projects land between $8,000 and $55,000. We work with third-party lenders that offer deferred-interest promotional plans and fixed monthly payment plans, and checking your rate does not affect your credit score. See our financing page for how it works, or ask about it during your consultation.
Do you work in condos and HOA communities?
Regularly. Condo and HOA work has its own constraints: approved work hours, elevator reservations and protection, restrictions on where a saw can be set up, and sometimes an architectural review before anything starts. We build those constraints into the schedule up front. This comes up most often in Port Hueneme and Oxnard beachfront buildings and in the Thousand Oaks condo tracts, where a lot of the units were built in the 1970s.
What is the difference between plywood and particleboard cabinet boxes?
Plywood is cross-laminated wood veneer, so it holds screws, resists sagging and tolerates a plumbing leak long enough for you to catch it. Particleboard is compressed wood chips and resin, which is dimensionally stable and cheap but loses screw holding power once wet and swells permanently. It is the single most common place a low bid hides its savings, because once the doors are on you cannot see the difference. Our standard box is 3/4-inch plywood, and we state box construction as a line item on the estimate.
Which cities do you serve besides Camarillo?
We install throughout Ventura County: Oxnard, Ventura, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Moorpark, Somis, Santa Paula, Port Hueneme and Santa Rosa Valley, plus the unincorporated areas in between. Our shop is in Camarillo, so most of the county is inside a 30-minute drive, which matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between a same-week punch-list visit and waiting two weeks for someone to come back and adjust a door.
